Day 31: LAST CALL!

I decided to use two new polishes. One is Splash by Pure Ice. And the other is Salon Perfect's Silver Sparkle. I just tipped my nails in the silver.

Day 30: Science

I wanted to do little beakers with strange liquid in them. They didn't come out how I wanted, but hey, whatcha gonna do?

Day 29: Inspired by Sky

You ever have those really good ideas and you're so excited to try them, but they flop? Here's my really good idea:
Breakdown of what I used:

Thumb: Blu by Zoya
Pointer finger: Teal the Cows Come Home by OPI
Middle finger: You're S-Teal the One by Nicole by OPI
Ring finger: A mix of Giovanni by Zoya and You're S-Teal the One by Nicole by OPI
Pinky: Indigo by Zoya and Ice Ice Baby by Confetti

Day 28: Inspired by Ocean/Sea

I bought new polish today and had to try it out! It is OPI's Peace, Love and OPI. I love how pretty this is in the light.
On the accent nail, I added a pearl made of OPI's Totally Fort Worth It. I added NYC's French White Tip to make it look like it had a little shine.

Day 27: Inspired by Nature

Boy, I'm having a tough time getting these uploaded on time! The base polish is Giovanna by Zoya and the top dots are Kaboom by Salon Perfect. I love how it came out! It is supposed to emulate leaves from far away.

Day 26: Inspired by Book

I decided to base my nails on The Mortal Instrument's Shadowhunter runes. It's a great series. I recommend it. I will explain each symbol.
There is all of them at once. Kinda cool.
This is the rune for Soundless.
The rune for Strength.
The rune for Defend/Block.

This is the rune for Angelic Power.

And this is the rune for Love.

Day 25: Inspired by Fashion

These nails were just plain annoying. I tried to do argyle, which sucked. I tried to do gem tone argyle, which sucked MORE. And then I gave up and did nails inspired by a dress I saw a long time ago. So...there...
The purple is Zoya's Mason. I love it.

Day 24: Inspired by Art

I used to have this huge Monet painting in my old house and I loved it so much. It inspired me to paint and draw from day one! So, here are my Monet inspired nails.
I love how my thumb came out!

Day 23: Inspired by Mythology

Okay, so, I'm not going to be writing much in these and I don't think I'll even list polishes unless I have not used them before. I'm way behind and I need to catch up with Kat. So, enjoy these! I wanted to do a phoenix because I have always loved the concept of a bird that is reborn.

I really do like how the bird came out!

Day 22: Inspired by Pet

I was so looking forward to these nails! I bought a fish not too long ago and Moony has turned into a fine fish. He has some amazing colors on his fins, which is what I tried to emulate.
I used Charla by Zoya for the base and Revlon's Tantalize for the bottom. I then used my blue and black stripe brushies to create a Moony on my accent nail. I think it looks pretty good for my first attempt at a fish!

Day 21: Inspired by Comic

So, when Kat first suggested this, my first thought was Superman nails. However, I decided to be bold and try something out in grey tones like a manga.
The white things are petals blowing in the wind and the accent nail is a whole cherry blossom...or at least it should have been if I had done it right. In any case, I like how these came out. I've used all of the blacks and whites before, so you should know them by now. The dark and light silver came in a Gradient nail box that I no long remember. I put Ice Ice Baby by Confetti over it because ANIME SPARKLIES! Enjoy!

Day 20: Striped

So, I went shopping for polish. I shouldn't have, but they were on sale! I bought Zoya's Mason and used that as the base.
I then found a nail art pen in gold glitter. I can't find a link for it sadly. I painted zerba stripes because I like those better than regular stripes.

Day 19: Flower

SPARKLY NAIL POLISH! I found Zoya's Aurora and I love the effect. So purple and glitterly (it's not a word, but it SHOULD BE). I painted a flower with my Pink Chrome pen.

Day 18: Geometric

So, I wanted to do something inspired by Mondrian. If you don't know who Mondrian is, that's too bad. You're not going to understand my nails.
I used NYC French White Tip, Sally Hansen's Red Carpet, Wet n' Wild's The Wonder Yellows, Stripe Rite Black and Nicole by OPI's You're S-Teal the One.

I don't like these nails so much, but I am super proud that I remembered my art!

Saturday, August 17, 2013

Day 17: Swirls

I wanted to do something different with this theme. I love doing swirls and I have some awesome polish pens. Dannii by Zoya was my base coat, followed by the Pink Chrome nail art pen. I've been into life cycles recently, so I tried to show that in my nails.

Day 16: Galaxy Nails

Look at these beauties! I love them! I want to keep them for all time!
Aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I love them. Here are the colors.
Yoga-ta Get this Blue by OPI
Storm by Zoya
Back in my Gloria Days by Nicole/OPI
You're S-Teal the One by Nicole/OPI
Ice Ice Baby by Confetti

Day 14: Polka Dot

Polka dots are so fun to do! Especially in color! I decided to use a relatively new polish called Pretty in Polka by Maybelline. Then, deciding it wasn't enough, I tipped my nails in alternating black and white, dotting them with the opposite color. Here is the result:
I used Zoya's Storm for the black and NYC's French White Tip for the white.

Day 13: Glitter

I wanted to do something red for this challenge, but I wasn't prepared for how much I would hate this. Everyone likes it except for me. So after a debate, I decided to post them. Here they are:

I used Sinful Colors' Ruby Ruby first, surprised at how shiny it was. I then grabbed my newest glitter polish, Sally Girl's So Disco and laid that on. At this point, I could have stopped, but I wanted to do glittery tips. I grabbed Zoya's ultra glittery Blaze and painted the tips. I thought it looked odd, but according to my mother it looked 'elegant'. Well, maybe you will all get enjoyment of it.

Day 12: Animal Print

I am so proud of these nails! I think I'm getting better at painting. I intended to do just plain snow leopard print...but...I wanted to mix it up. Here is my version of leopard print!
So, here is a breakdown of the polishes used!
First, three coats of It's Totally Fort Worth It! by OPI. Then I applied dots of Zoya's AuroraDanii and Julieanne. Next, I used the black Stripe Rite to create a leopard spot effect! I adore how it came out.

Day 11: Textured

I have been so excited to use this polish. I love Zoya and their creations and Liberty is no exception. I was skeptical since Zoya instructs you NOT to use a base coat. However, I decided to just do as the bottle said. I put on three thin coats of Liberty and waited. The result was a matte sparkle that was just beautiful. I ended up putting on a top coat to protect it.
I love how SPARKLY it is. It certainly makes me smile to see it. The texture is like sandpaper without the top coat. With the top coat, it is just slightly bumpy.

Day 10: Gradient

Gradients are hard for me to do, but I thought I'd start with something simple. I got a new polish I wanted to experiment with, so here we are!
I wanted to do butterfly nails again! The new polish I got is a black striping polish called Stripe Rite. It's a Sally Hansen product. I used The Wonder Yellows by Wet n' Wild and then put Tantalize by Revlon at the base of my nail. I spread it up and put on a few extra coats to make it pop (which is ended up not doing in the picture). I then put the black Stripe Rite on and dotted it with French White Tip by NYC.

Day 9: Metallic

I have waited for this day. I love metallic polishes and I have had an idea in my head all week. Using two of my favorite magnetic polishes, I created THIS:
The blue is Ionic Indigo and the dark grey is Graphite Gravity, both by Sally Hansen. I would have used Silver Elements, but I can't find it. I hope you enjoy how stunning the blue is! I used a french manicure kit to get the tip so perfect. All in all, this is my favorite polish challenge day!

Thursday, August 8, 2013

Day 8: Black and White

Today's theme was black and white and I LOVE how these turned out! They were created by using some sparkly strips I got in a decal box.
I used NYC's French White Tip as the base, used the strips to make a crisscross pattern and then put on Milani's Black Swift. I might have pulled the strips off too quickly, but I still love it! I think it looks pretty.

Day 7: Rainbow

So, I adore things that are rainbow like. These nails started as an awesome idea. I'd paint my nails white and then splatter colored polish on them. Here is what they looked like:

They didn't turn out like I wanted and the thumb polish came off almost instantly. I will list all colors at the end.
So, I decided to try something different!
Butterfly rainbow nails! I like how they turned out, but they also didn't come out like I wanted. Still, they're much more creative than my splatter nails.
Colors:
Red Carpet by Sally Hansen
9.0.2.1.Orange by Wet n' Wild
The Wonder Yellows by Wet n' Wild
Ivy League by Sally Hansen
You're S-Teal the One by Nicole by OPI
Buffy the Violet Slayer by Wet n' Wild
French White Tip by NYC
Black Swift by Milani

Day 6: Purple

Hello! As usual, I seem to be creating nails and then messing them up with things they don't need. Still, I have fun doing it. Here are my latest creations:
This polish is called Lacey Lilac by Sally Hansen. It's a lovely shiny lilac color and the first matte color I ever owned. It's complimented (sort of) by a black line decal.

Monday, August 5, 2013

Day 5: Blue

I love blue. I don't think any of you will ever be able to grasp how much I adore blue. I particularly love the blue I am about to show you. The camera does not do the effect I tried to create justice. Sad, right?
The reason the nails look weird is because I put thin shredded glitter pieces on my nails. The shredded glitter does not show up on camera. The first polish is You're S-Teal the One by Nicole by OPI. It's a beautiful blue color and is certainly not teal. I don't understand why they reference it as teal when there is no green in it. If anything, it has a purple shimmer to it. In any case, I then put on Revlon's Galactic. I only used the shiny bits, not the dark blue obviously. The effect is pretty, but the texture is not. It feels very rough.

Day 4: Green/Teal

Have I got a treat for you! TWO nail designs for the price of one! Here is the one I did for the challenge!
The polish is called SaGreena the Teenage Witch by Wet n' Wild. It's a really nice green. I loved how deep it was. I added the little decal because I thought they needed it...but I think I was better without it.
This was a nail design done professionally a month or so ago. The green is Ivanka by Zoya. I love it so much! The decal is a little dragon fly made of gems. Here is a detail.

Day 3: Orange/Yellow

Okay, I tried to be fancy and complicated and...it turned out so WRONG. I was attempting to make my nails appear like fish scales. I like the look I created, but it was definitely not my finest moment.
Can't see the weirdness well enough? Here's a close up.
Okay, first I used Wet n' Wild's Sunny Side Up as a base coat. Then I used Wet n' Wild's 9.0.2.1.Orange. I dragged a pencil through it to create a textured effect. At this point, my nails looks like someone had chewed on them. To cover it up, I used Wet n' Wild's The Wonder Yellows. I don't know if it made it better or just cemented the fact that I fail at life. In either case, I actually wasn't too heartbroken. This was my first time at this and considering that, I did okay. I'll do better next round!

Day 2: Red

Alright, this time I had a very nifty tool for my nails! It is this little thing! It is a duo nail art brush. One part polish pen, one part thin brush. It is perfect for all your nail art needs! Mine is called Pink Chrome and it is cheap! I'll drop five bucks for this art pen any day of the week!
Look at that line! SO pretty! I love how smooth it comes out. Be careful though! It doesn't dry quickly!
The red polish is called Red Carpet by Sally Hansen. I love how gorgeous this polish is with the pink.

Tomorrow is Orange/Yellow and I think I have an idea!

Challenge 1: Pink

This is Zoya's Joy. It is a lovely polish with a holographic shine to it! I had this done at the salon, so that's why it looks so professional. I don't know the top and base coat used. I worked hard to get this angle. I hope you enjoy it!
